Flighter

For the person meeting someone at arrivals, not for someone watching aviation.

Flighter is an Android app that follows the two or three flights you are waiting for, such as one you are meeting at arrivals, and is built to tell you the moment one changes: a delay, a gate, boarding, landing. It is still being built. This page describes what it will do; the code is private while it is written. The current build is in the F-Droid repository, not on Google Play.

It is published in the self-hosted F-Droid repository that serves every app here; use the F-Droid badge at the top of this page.

Frequently asked questions

What is Flighter?

Flighter is an Android app, still in development, for following the two or three flights you are waiting for and being told when one changes: a delay, a gate, boarding or landing.

Can I download Flighter?

It is in the author’s self-hosted F-Droid repository at https://releases.android.apps.gpm.name/repo (the F-Droid badge on the home page adds it to an F-Droid client), but it is still in development. It is not on Google Play.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account and no server of ours. An email address is only used if you type one in yourself to be answered about a report.

What data does Flighter collect?

Today nothing about the flights you follow leaves your phone, because no flight-data provider is configured yet, and the app asks for no location permission. See the privacy policy.

Is Flighter free?

The terms say some features may be offered as a paid unlock, and that whatever is free today stays free for installs already using it. See the terms of service.

Which Android versions does it support?

Android 8.0 (API 26) or later.
